Spring Time in Lake Country is one of my favorite times to photograph an engagement session. Granted, the Wisconsin weather can be a bit testy, but the warm skies, beautiful greens and fresh apple blossoms are some of the most romantic textures and colors I can imagine for a celebration of love. As I begin this blogging journey, I wanted to take it back to one of my most favorite sessions!
Madison and Kris had a love story that spanned nearly a decade through many life phases. Military, PA school, ski/snowboarding adventures, mutual friends, and a deep fondness for a whole lotta fun! When I first spoke with this couple they mentioned they had been models for another photographer in Texas and wouldn’t be needing an engagement session but if you know me, you know I put a great importance on getting to know my couples personally and the engagement session is a big piece of that pie. They agreed and I am SOO thankful they did!
We began our fun at a beautiful old Apple Orchard in Lake Country and Finished with the beautiful sunset lighting in Delafield. Their adventurous spirits rang true as they kicked off their shoes and without hesitation stepped into the river for a few final shots.
Looking back on this day, now after their wedding which also was STUNNING, I can see how all the stars seemed to align for us. The storm just sprinkled and passed along, the bicycle just happened to be there with a willing teenager when we wanted it, and their apparent affection and love for one another truly oozes out of every photograph.
I desire to produce images that aren’t just great pictures but that express the true emotion that my bride and groom feel for one another. Kris and Madison will be able to share these images with their children and grandchildren someday and their will be no doubt how much these two are deeply, soulfully, forever in love.
